“Reed Smith is honored to be recognized for its comprehensive and innovative employee programming,” said Casey Ryan, Reed Smith’s global head of legal personnel. “Our Human Resources Team’s unwavering commitment to integrity, creativity, diversity, equity and inclusion has helped us expand and sustain a supportive, positive environment for our personnel in Pittsburgh and around the globe. We are all celebrating this well-deserved honor today.”
The city’s oldest and largest law firm, Reed Smith was recognized by PHRA for its comprehensive suite of programs designed to promote the health, wellness, and work-life balance of employees. Its award-winning Wellness Initiative includes three pillars: Wellness Works, the Mental Health Task Force and The Family Network.
Wellness Works is an integrated approach to health and wellbeing based on the firm’s cardinal principle that physical and mental wellness are essential to employees’ personal and professional happiness, productivity, and success. The Mental Health Task Force provides educational programming and resources and promotes awareness about issues of mental wellbeing and behavioral health, including the firm’s robust #StoptheStigma campaign to open up discussions about mental health issues and encourage help-seeking behaviors by employees. The Family Network responds to the challenges posed by COVID and its recent impacts on workforce practices by providing unique assistance to employees’ immediate and extended families.
PHRA has honored outstanding achievements in organizational development and learning initiatives undertaken by Pittsburgh-area businesses for two decades. Formerly known as “People Do Matter” (PDM), the awards annually celebrate employees and employers who demonstrate creativity in designing business practices that promote diversity, learning and development, talent recruitment and retention, leadership and teamwork.
