Reed Smith ranked fourth in the listing, moving up one place from last year’s rankings and recording over 26,000 pro bono hours. Eighty-one percent of the firm’s UK-based lawyers took part in pro bono projects.

Law.com noted: “Long known for its commitment to pro bono work, U.S. firm Reed Smith was the number one firm for pro bono hours per lawyer undertaking pro bono work.”

Law.com highlighted the firm’s partnership with Enact Equality on a research paper in response to the highly publicized ‘Child Q’ case earlier this year. The paper will be presented to a government working group that is focused on advancing race equality in education and will feed into the group’s discussions and influence future policy.

Michael Skrein, a Reed Smith partner who also leads the firm’s responsible business programming for EMEA, commented: “As a firm, our commitment to pro bono work over many years is clear and I congratulate our lawyers for all their efforts to promote access to justice and equity for all, and to protect our environment. I also want to thank all of the organizations that have partnered with us on our many pro bono projects throughout the year.”

In August this year, Reed Smith ranked sixth among the 200 largest law firms in The American Lawyer’s 2022 Pro Bono Scorecard: International Rankings.
