DALLAS – Global Law firm Reed Smith announced today that it won five awards at the 20205 Texas Legal Awards, including Best Law Firm of the Year. The firm also garnered top honors in the Best Mentor, Pro Bono Lawyer of the Year of the Year, Legal Innovators and On the Rise categories.

Best Mentor – Omar J. Alaniz

Omar Alaniz, the firm’s office managing partner for Dallas, is a renowned bankruptcy attorney with leadership roles at influential industry organizations, honored for his impactful mentoring of more than 100 young attorneys and law students over the last two decades.

Pro Bono Attorney of the Year – Stan Perry

Stan Perry, a Houston-based litigation partner and Reed Smith’s global director of pro bono and community service, was recognized for his leadership on significant pro bono initiatives and partnerships.

Legal Innovator – CINO David Cunningham

David Cunningham, the firm’s chief innovation officer (CINO), who is based in Houston, was honored for leading the firm’s global Innovation initiatives, including a complete transition of the firm digital platform and AI framework.

On the Rise – Anne G. Peetz

Anne Peetz, a Houston-based partner, was also among the winners of this year’s On the Rise Award for her work capital markets transactions, corporate governance and compliance, and mergers and acquisitions.

The Texas Legal Awards are held annually by Texas Lawyer and Law.com in recognition of lawyers and legal professionals “who have made significant contributions to the legal industry and to the state of Texas.” Winners for 2025 were announced, and finalists honored, last night at the Arts District Mansion in Dallas.
