Madeline Boyer, Ph.D., is the director of Reed Smith’s global innovation lab. Under her leadership, the lab works with the firm’s practice and client groups to uncover areas of opportunity for impactful change.
Dr. Boyer brings to this role extensive experience in ethnographic methods, virtual teaming strategy, employee and client experience design, and leadership facilitation. By combining human-centered design with data-driven strategies, she fosters team building, provides comprehensive client service analysis, and accelerates professional growth and legal tech acumen at the firm. Madeline works in close partnership with the firm’s extensive innovation capabilities, including Gravity Stack, the firm’s legal technology subsidiary; Reed Smith Global Solutions, the firm’s platform for delivering next generation legal services; and the firm’s Practice Innovation, Client Value, and Knowledge Management teams.
Dr. Boyer holds her doctorate in anthropology and conducted her ethnographic dissertation research on coworking spaces, virtual community building, and the history (and future) of work. She was previously a manager of KPMG’s Innovation Lab, and affiliated faculty at the University of Pennsylvania. She is co-author of the 2016 book Committed Teams: Three Steps to Inspiring Passion and Performance.
