Doug has more than twenty-five years of insurance coverage litigation and counseling experience. He has handled client matters involving all aspects of property insurance, including cause and origin, valuation, business interruption, contingent business interruption and codependency, valuable papers and records, and sue and labor claims, under the full spectrum of standardized and manuscript policies. His matters involve both primary and excess coverages.

Doug has represented clients in a wide variety of property insurance matters, including claims from Hurricanes Katrina and Sandy, fine art, mine floods, high-rise building fires, structure collapses, boiler and machinery losses, food product contamination, a glass furnace failure, and loss of a communications satellite. He also has extensive experience in political risk claims, including ones related to the U.S. invasion of Panama, the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait, the Liberian civil war, civil disturbances in Haiti, and politically motivated bombings in Northern Ireland.

Doug represents policyholders in claims based on employee theft and dishonesty under standard crime policies and financial institution bonds.

He also has significant experience regarding claims under general liability policies, professional and managed care errors and omissions polices, directors and officers insurance, and numerous specialty liability insurance coverages.

In addition to litigation matters, Doug regularly reviews clients’ existing and proposed insurance programs with respect to scope and terms and conditions of coverage. He advises clients with respect to insurance implications of corporate transactions, such as acquisitions, mergers, and divestitures, including drafting provisions for clients’ transactional contracts to address those issues.
