Thanks to its impartiality, efficiency and enforceability, international arbitration is one of the keys to the resolution of multijurisdictional commercial disputes and is of high significance to the protection of legitimate rights of Chinese enterprises in foreign operation. However, under the complicated context of legal regime discrepancy and cultural gaps between different countries, Chinese enterprises may face an array of legal risks in overseas operation, such as contract disputes and investment controversies, who thus need to take a comprehensive account of legal compliance, risk evaluation and dispute resolution mechanisms to mitigate risks and uphold their interest during overseas operation.

Reed Smith is delighted to participate in the 11th China Arbitration Week program in 2023 and to co-host “Chinese Enterprises Foreign Trade Compliance Risk and Response – Arbitration Law and Practice” with the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC). At the webinar, attorneys from Reed Smith’s International Arbitration practice group will deliver sharing on the current landscape and development of international arbitration compliance and enterprises’ overseas compliance, how to help Chinese enterprises respond to export control and international sanctions, how Chinese enterprises should cope with new “seafaring” challenges under the latest Belt and Road Initiative landscape, the enforcement of Chinese arbitral awards in Hong Kong and the latest arbitration procedures and rules in Singapore, New York and London and how to deal with them.
