The Florida Bar YLD has over 26,000 members. All lawyers under age 36 and new Florida Bar members for the first five years in good standing are automatically members.
Gopiao is a senior litigation associate in the firm’s Insurance Recovery Group. She has actively participated in all stages of litigation, from alternative dispute resolution to direct-examinations at trial. Her practice includes representing clients in disputes involving D&O, cyber liability, and first-party property insurance. Gopiao also guides clients through the claims process and has experience providing transactional insurance advice, conducting policy audits, and counseling clients at the policy placement or renewal stage. She is admitted to practice in Florida and California, as well as the U.S. District Courts for the Southern District of Florida, Middle District of Florida, Northern District of Florida, and Central District of California.
Gopiao is also known as a passionate advocate and volunteer both within the firm and in the community. Within the firm, Gopiao serves as the associate committee chair for the Miami office and the associate liaison for the Women’s Initiative Network of Reed Smith (WINRS). In the community, Gopiao serves of the board of directors for Dress for Success Miami; is on the executive board of the Miami Dade Bar Young Lawyers Section; is a member of the Florida Bar Cybersecurity and Privacy Law Committee and the Florida Bar Media & Communications Law Committee; and serves as the co-chair of the Women Making History Committee for Miami-Dade Florida Association for Women Lawyers.
Gopiao was recently named among the Miami-Dade Bar Young Lawyer Section’s 40 Under 40 Outstanding Lawyers and Rising Star Asian American Excellence in Florida Award from the Asian Pacific American Bar Association of South Florida. She is also a Class X graduate of the Florida Bar Wm. Reece Smith, Jr. Leadership Academy, a highly selective multi-session training program designed to help a diverse and inclusive group of lawyers become better leaders.
Gopiao will be formally recognized as a 36 Under 36 Award recipient at the Florida Bar Young Lawyers Division Affiliate Outreach Conference on February 17 at Walt Disney World® Swan Resort.
