NEW YORK – Global law firm Reed Smith today announced the addition of Brian Rogers as a partner in its Energy & Natural Resources Group in its New York office. Rogers focuses on debt finance and structured commodities transactions across the energy and natural resources sectors.

“Reed Smith has deep and longstanding experience in debt and structured commodities finance, with an established team in London serving clients across the commodities, banking, and energy sectors,” said Co-Chair of Reed Smith’s Energy & Natural Resources Group Ben Patton. “Brian brings top-of-market capability on the U.S. side, and pairing his practice with Reed Smith’s platform positions us as the leader in this space on both sides of the Atlantic.”

Rogers advises private debt funds, banks, asset managers, commodity merchants, private equity funds, family offices, and public and private companies across all levels of the capital structure. His work spans term loans, asset-based loans, unitranche facilities, intermediations, monetizations, prepayments, trade finance, leveraged buyouts, restructurings, rescue financings, and other special situations – including some of the market’s leading structured transactions.

“Our New York office serves multinational corporations and financial institutions, and Brian’s debt finance and structured commodities practice strengthens our ability to serve those clients on complex energy and infrastructure transactions,” said New York Office Managing Partner John Scalzo.

"What drew me to Reed Smith is its structured commodities finance platform—one that banks, commodity merchants, and funds already rely on globally. My practice adds scale to that offering in the United States, bolstering the firm's market-leading position in these areas,” said Rogers. “I'm also looking forward to collaborating with colleagues in private credit to grow our debt finance and special situations offerings."

Prior to joining Reed Smith, Rogers was a partner at Bracewell. He earned his J.D. from Boston University School of Law and his B.S. from the University of South Florida.
