Megan Ali is an associate in the firm’s Life Sciences Health Industry Group, and based in the Houston office. Megan has experience assisting with matters involving health care clients, including pharmacy chains and medical device manufacturers, in regulatory and enforcement matters, such as False Claims Act cases as well as cases involving “usual and customary” pricing issues. Megan’s attention to detail helps ensure that her work product is accurate, polished, and persuasive.

Successfully secured the dismissal of a False Claims Act (FCA) lawsuit brought by a qui tam whistleblower in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida against a health system. The court twice dismissed the claims, some with prejudice. After the relator filed a third amended complaint, the court granted full summary judgment in favor of the health system, dismissing all claims based on the FCA’s public disclosure bar and on the relator’s failure to establish either scienter or materiality.
