With more than 25 years of litigation experience, Natasha represents a broad range of policyholders, from Fortune 500 companies, financial services firms, and private equity funds to universities, religious organizations, and nonprofits in their most consequential insurance coverage disputes. She has represented her clients in cases involving high-profile incidents, including those involving sexual abuse and harassment, racial discrimination, severe losses from property damage and lost revenue, losses on secured lending transactions, internal investigations and government investigations, and professional liability claims. She also has represented directors and officers seeking advancement of defense costs and indemnification.
Known for her ability to step into complex, high-pressure cases on short timelines, Natasha brings a strategic, no-nonsense approach grounded in meticulous preparation. She is equally effective in the courtroom, in arbitration, and during settlement negotiations, with particular skill for distilling intricate coverage issues into clear, persuasive arguments for courts and arbitration panels.
Before dedicating her practice to insurance recovery, Natasha spent more than a decade as a complex commercial litigator. That experience continues to shape her approach to coverage disputes. She draws on broad contract and tort principles, rather than relying solely on traditional insurance coverage frameworks, to develop creative strategies for her clients, including pursuing bad faith and implied duty claims against insurers and advancing innovative arguments in novel disputes, most recently in arguing for clarification of the availability of bad faith and consumer protection claims against insurers before the New York Appellate Division, First Department, which resulted in a significant decision now widely cited by policyholders across the state.
Natasha also focuses her practice on representing institutional investors, asset managers, and private equity funds in insurance coverage disputes arising from complex, non-traditional financial transactions, including collateralized protection and financial guaranty insurance programs providing backstops for eight- and nine-figure secured lending transactions, involving novel issues of structured finance, distressed debt, and creditors’ rights.
