Shannon’s practice focuses on sophisticated domestic and cross-border transactional and corporate governance matters, including venture capital and private equity financing, mergers and acquisitions, fund formation, and general corporate matters.
As someone who has served as in-house counsel for two registered investment advisory firms, Shannon brings a unique mix of general counsel-like strategic thinking, deep industry insight, precise technical excellence, and boots-on-the-ground practicality to give clients the level of support and service they demand from their outside counsel. During her time in-house, she advised management on structuring transactions for early-stage, secondary and growth equity investments and fund formation and fund compliance issues.
Known for her expansive skillsets, Shannon has extensive transactional experience representing venture capital and private equity investors, financial and strategic acquirers, entrepreneurs and emerging growth companies. Described as someone who has “seen it all”, Shannon’s big picture understanding of a client’s business allows her to effectively supports them wherever they are in their lifecycle.
Shannon is also extremely passionate about diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives. She has devoted significant legal and non-legal time as a volunteer consultant with the non-profit Compass, where she (1) provided consulting services related to fundraising, donor and influencer development and marketing to Academy for Urban School Leadership, a non-profit devoted to combating issues of inequity in education and (2) advised the Merit School of Music on funding and marketing strategie-focusing primarily on revenue target validation and pricing modeling for services—and provided actionable recommendations.
