Welcome to the second Reed Smith International Arbitration newsletter of 2026.
Five years ago, in our opening newsletter of 2021 that was dedicated to construction disputes, my predecessor at that time, José Astigarraga, pointed out that Reed Smith’s international arbitration practice is premised on three strands: specific industries such as energy and natural resources, certain “specialisms” (specific types of arbitrations regardless of industry, such as investor-state arbitration), and specific geographic regions in which our lawyers are especially well suited to advise our clients.
That description of our practice still stands today. In this edition of our newsletter, we focus on sector specialisms, with articles from authors across our offices around the world. These contributions offer valuable perspectives on the issues shaping arbitration across these sectors.
