(March 4, 2009, Princeton, NJ) – Reed Smith LLP, one of the 15 largest law firms in the world, today announced the appointment of Nanette Mantell as Managing Partner of the firm’s Princeton office, effective immediately. In addition, she recently assumed the position of Vice Chair of the firm’s Life Sciences Health Industry Group (LSHI).
Ms. Mantell takes over leadership responsibility for the office from Patrick Bradley, who has returned to his full-time practice in aviation and product liability defense.
“Patrick provided excellent leadership for the Princeton office,” said Gregory B. Jordan, Reed Smith’s Global Managing Partner. “But client demand for product liability representation is increasing, and client needs have always driven our strategy. We expect a smooth transition of responsibility into Nan’s capable hands and look forward to the continued success of the attorneys and staff in this office under her leadership.”
A 1977 graduate of Cleveland-Marshall School of Law, Ms. Mantell joined Reed Smith in 2000. Her practice serves pharmaceutical, biotech, and other companies operating in the life sciences industry. She has significant experience in general corporate and securities law, including domestic and cross-border registration of securities, domestic and international private offerings, and compliance. She also handles mergers and acquisitions, complex licensing and collaborations, and product acquisitions and divestitures for the firm’s pharmaceutical industry clients and acts as general counsel for several clients, advising them on day-to-day business operations.
“I’m excited about the opportunity to lead the Princeton office while I continue to serve our life science clients,” said Ms. Mantell. “Patrick did a great job which will make this a smooth transition; I expect to pick up where he left off and hope to have a continuing positive influence on our success here.”
Mr. Bradley was also enthusiastic about the change. “It was a privilege to serve as office Managing Partner in Princeton,” he said. “But it’s clear that the best use of my time now is to return to serving clients full-time. I know Nan will do an exceptional job of leading this office and ensuring that it continues to be a productive and dynamic part of Reed Smith.”
Since opening in 1992, Reed Smith's Princeton office has become one of the area's largest law firms, with more than 50 lawyers, representing corporate and individual clients in a range of sectors, including commercial and business litigation, financial services, health care, intellectual property, biotechnology, real estate, energy, environmental, governmental affairs, life sciences transactions, and construction law.
