In its efforts to innovate alongside clients, Reed Smith opened two innovation hubs in London and New York in October 2016 as well as hiring a dedicated innovation manager. The hubs serve as communities or work spaces which act as a focal point for knowledge transfer, industry insights and brainstorming sessions to find solutions to complex challenges and showcase new capabilities.
Moreover, Reed Smith has been at the forefront of utilising AI within the legal industry having teamed up with UK-based legal AI company, RAVN Systems. During the pilot, Reed Smith used the technology to improve efficiencies and consistency of review for due diligence matters within their Real Estate Group. The AI technology was used to allow Reed Smith to test how in a live due diligence exercise they could mitigate the risks of error from fatigue and inconsistency inherent in the traditional manual review process, allowing fee earners to focus on higher value, more complex aspects of the transaction. Through early adoption of AI, Reed Smith is committed to passing on these benefits to its clients.

The exhibition ‘Into the Unknown: A Journey through Science Fiction’ opens to the public on 3 June and runs until 1 September and consists of more than 800 works, many of which have never been seen in the UK before.
