The CIArb is a leading professional membership organization representing the interests of alternative dispute resolution practitioners worldwide, and counts more than 16000 members in the form of counsel, advocates, academics, experts, and other professionals affiliated to dispute resolution.
At the end of 2019, after the North America Branch (NAB) had spent several months building a business case, the global Board of CIArb Trustees approved the opening of a Western Hemisphere regional office in Miami. NAB director Cristina Cárdenas was appointed to head the team setting up the office, expected to open by autumn 2020.
A native Spanish speaker, Cárdenas has extensive experience of representing clients across a variety of complex international arbitrations and business disputes, focusing her practice on international arbitration and complex commercial litigation.
Reed Smith’s global international arbitration presence is, in part, the result of the firm’s dedicated, innovative and international practitioners taking on such leadership roles within the arbitral community. Many act as chairs, co-chairs, committee members, fellows and members of leading international arbitration associations around the world.
