NEW YORK – Reed Smith today announced that Frank Wei, a lawyer with deep intellectual property (IP) experience, has joined the firm as counsel in its Global Corporate Group in New York. Wei will add depth to Reed Smith’s novel and industry-leading tech transactions capabilities.

Wei advises clients on a wide variety of commercial matters involving IP, including licensing and analysis, protection of trade secrets and privacy, and development, supply, distribution and other service agreements. Additionally, he is experienced in evaluating and advising on IP and tech issues that arise in general corporate transactions, such as merger and acquisition, carve-out and spin off, private equity, and debt finance.

Wei has worked on IP matters in connection with many different industries, including pharmaceutical, biotech, healthcare, manufacturing, media, telecom, electronics, software, retail, consumer goods, food, automotive, financial services, and energy.

Wei received his J.D. from the New York University School of Law and his B.S. from the University of California, Los Angeles.
