PRINCETON, N.J. – Reed Smith health and life sciences law partner Julia A. López has been included in the NJBiz Power 50, a list that includes the 50 most influential men and women in New Jersey’s legal profession.

NJBiz saluted López’s work ethic and commitment to her pharmaceutical and medical device clients, as well as her work on diversity, bar, pro bono and other issues.

López primarily defends drug and medical device manufacturers in product-liability and commercial litigation. Her experience includes working on single plaintiff matters, coordinated cases and multidistrict litigation in both federal and state courts. She counsels clients from early case assessments and initial filings through resolution, including trials.

She is a former president of the Hispanic Bar Association of New Jersey and serving in her third year as national finance director for the Hispanic National Bar Association, where she is helping to implement national initiatives for Hispanic/Latinx attorneys and students, communities and strategic partners.

Her pro bono efforts include handling cases for veterans through the National Veterans Legal Services Program and immigration cases through Kids In Need of Defense, where she recently became an advisory committee member.

For the last two years, Lopez has served on the Magistrate Judge Merits Selection Committee, a position in which she reviews applications for magistrate judge positions in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey.
