Omar is a partner in Reed Smith's Energy and Natural Resources Group with a focus on structured trade and commodities finance and commercial lending. Omar has over 20 years of experience advising clients on trade and commodities finance and other finance products across a broad range of jurisdictions and asset classes.
In particular, Omar’s experience includes advising clients on prepayment financings, borrowing base financings, pre-export financings, receivables financing structures, inventory monetisations and commodities repos, as well as a number of other aspects of trade and commodities finance, such as bilateral loan and letter of credit facilities, payment instruments, participation structures, the securitisation of receivables purchase arrangements and the treatment of certain financial products for regulatory capital purposes.
Omar also has extensive experience of representing clients in connection with more mainstream banking arrangements, such as general corporate finance, fund finance and acquisition finance, as well as restructuring and insolvency matters.
Omar regularly speaks at conferences and has been published on a number of occasions in the trade press. Omar is named in IFLR1000 as a rising star partner for banking and trade finance.
