Insider Perspective from the Federal Trade Commission

With 15 years of hands-on experience at the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), Julia brings a unique insider’s perspective to help clients navigate complex advertising and consumer protection challenges. Her deep understanding of regulatory expectations and enforcement priorities enables her to anticipate potential risks and develop practical, business-focused solutions that keep clients ahead of the curve.

Expertise in “Made in USA” and Country-of-Origin claims

As the FTC’s long-serving “Made in USA” program manager, she led the drafting, implementation, and interpretation of the Made in USA Labeling Rule, and led dozens of high-profile enforcement actions. Her direct and “hands on” involvement means Julia is exceptionally well-placed to guide clients in making compliant origin claims, avoiding costly enforcement actions, and responding effectively to regulatory scrutiny. Julia received the FTC’s prestigious Paul Rand Dixon Award in recognition of her leading role in building the Made in USA enforcement program and shaping the Made in USA Labeling Rule — a testament to her deep expertise and authority in this area.
