DUBAI (15 May, 2017) – Reed Smith has received the accolade of ‘Arbitration Team of the Year’ at the annual Middle East Legal Awards held last night at the Ritz-Carlton, Dubai in recognition of the firm’s work on a variety of high value and high profile cases. In particular, the team acted successfully on a AED 200 million dispute on behalf of one of the UAE’s leading contractors against a major Middle Eastern developer, under the Dubai International Arbitration Centre rules. The team was led by Reed Smith partner Paul Taylor.

The awards were decided by a panel of judges chaired by Dean Stelfox, general counsel, Dubai World Central. In reviewing the submissions, the judges focused on a single case with a significant Middle East element that set new standards in the delivery of legal services and demonstrates the firm’s market-leading position.

The ceremony was attended by nearly 400 lawyers from in-house legal departments and private practice, and was jointly hosted by Legal Week and the Association of Corporate Counsel Middle East Chapter, and supported by Legal Week’s sister title, The American Lawyer.
