The CEI is the nation’s foremost benchmarking survey and report measuring corporate policies and practices related to LGBTQ+ workplace equality.
CEI evaluated law firms and companies under four criteria: nondiscrimination policies; equitable benefits for LGBTQ+ workers and their families; support for an inclusive culture; and corporate social responsibility.
A 100% rating indicates than an employer took “concrete steps” over the year to establish policies that ensure equity for LGBTQ+ workers and their families.
“We are proud to have been recognized once again with a score of 100 on the Human Rights Campaign's Corporate Equality Index,” said Reed Smith global managing partner Sandy Thomas. “Our performance is commensurate with Reed Smith's Core Values and with our expressed diversity, equity and inclusion principles.”
Equality-related steps Reed Smith has taken include: recruitment efforts targeting LGBTQ+ talent; reassessment and institution of existing and new internal benefits policies relating to LGBTQ+ employees; opposition to anti-trans legislation in the various states; business inclusion groups for racial justice, gender equality, and equal rights for LGBTQ+ individuals; empowerment of people with disabilities, and more.
