Mike has a practical appreciation of the global nature of the shipping industry, having lived and worked in the UK, Greece and Japan. He has broad experience in dry shipping matters, acting for P&I clubs, owners and charterers. He advises on multi-jurisdictional and multi-party disputes under charterparties, bills of lading and sale contracts, as well as related security, enforcement and marine insurance issues.
He also advises on drafting and dealing with disputes under a wide range of commercial contracts, including shipbuilding, sale of goods and construction contracts.
Mike aims to achieve the commercial and amicable resolution of matters, but where this is not possible, he has experience in both High Court litigation and arbitration (under the rules of, among others, the LMAA, ICC, LCIA and GAFTA).
Mike approaches cases with enthusiasm, yet his style is calm and analytical. Away from the office, he enjoys skiing and sailing, and can speak some Japanese.
