Romain is a counsel in our Transportation Industry Group, focusing on aviation and shipping. As an English solicitor and French avocat, he works between our London and Paris offices and concentrates on transactional matters.
He is a technical lawyer who seeks to solve challenges for his clients with an unwavering focus on the underlying business objective for each matter.
He uses his strong understanding of operational and commercial constraints of the aviation and maritime sectors to advise banks, alternative lenders, owners, lessors, airlines, charterers, investors, asset managers and arrangers on their financial and commercial transactions relating to commercial vessels and aircraft, cruise ships, private jets and superyachts.
Romain regularly advises on a wide range of commercial contracts, including building, trading, transport, logistics and management contracts.
His asset finance experience includes secured and unsecured debt financings; equity investment; operating leases; finance leases; bond financing; and export credit agency-supported financings.
On the French market, Romain acts for clients across the whole spectrum and life cycle of shipping and aviation deals, with a particular emphasis on French tax leases, asset trading, lease novations (including portfolio sales) and restructuring the same. Romain has extensive experience advising international aircraft lessors on finance, corporate, administrative and other French legal matters, including aircraft enforcement and repossessions in France, and attending to local French registries (corporate, Direction générale de l'Aviation civile (DGAC) and registre international français (RIF)) and filings matters.
Away from the office, when he is not supporting his favourite Rugby club, Romain is a passionate reader of Dumas and other classic serial novelists.
