Kim is the chair of the firm's Appellate Group and is a fellow in the American Academy of Appellate Lawyers. She handles appeals, writs, and post-trial motions for clients in state and federal courts around the country. Kim has successfully petitioned appellate courts, including the U.S. Supreme Court, several federal appellate courts, and the Pennsylvania and Texas Supreme Courts, to grant discretionary review. She has argued before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second, Third, Fourth, Fifth, Seventh, Eighth, and Eleventh Circuits, and the state appellate courts in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and California. Kim is the principal author of briefs submitted to each of those courts, as well as virtually every other federal circuit court of appeals and other state appellate courts, including those in Arkansas, Florida, Illinois, Louisiana, Michigan, Missouri, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Texas, and West Virginia. Kim’s experience encompasses a wide range of substantive issues, including those impacting the financial services and managed care industries, as well as class actions, complex jurisdictional questions, data privacy, product liability, employment and higher education law, and constitutional issues. Prior to focusing her practice on appellate law, Kim gained considerable jury trial and preliminary injunction proceeding experience, which she calls on as she regularly represents clients in appeals after trials.
