  • Types of insurance that may apply to hurricane-related claims and the benefits and drawbacks of each, including flood and windstorm;
  • Tips to maximize recovery after a loss, including how to document and mitigate your losses;
  • Causation issues, including concurrent causation;
  • The Florida claims handling environment, including Florida’s unique claims handling and bad faith statutory scheme;
  • Strategies for handling disputed claims, including alternative dispute methods such as appraisal and mediation;
  • Exclusions, deductibles, and sublimits;
  • Potential sources of assistance, including SBA disaster loans and FEMA disaster assistance.

In-house counsel, financial and property management staff, adjusters, and corporate risk managers will benefit from this program, as well as businesses and homeowners impacted by the hurricane.
