Ferrigno is a chartered tax adviser, with over 25 years’ experience in mobility and other cross-border tax issues. He is also an ICAEW chartered accountant (Fellow) and CIPD certified HR director.

Previously a tax partner at EY for over a decade, Ferrigno was most recently the global practice leader of immigration services at Santa Fe Relocation, a leading international relocation company.

Delphine Currie, co-chair of Reed Smith’s Global Corporate Group, said: “We are delighted to welcome Peter to the firm. He has spent much of his career based in Central Europe advising clients in those jurisdictions how ascension to the EU would impact their businesses, and subsequently. This extensive experience will prove a huge asset to our clients as they continue to consider and respond to the implications of Brexit.”

“From 1 January next year, the UK will no longer be signed up to the four freedoms of the single European market - the free movement of goods, services, labour and capital. Due to these changes our clients require advice that sits outside of the traditional black letter law. We are a firm that constantly adapts to provide solutions to our clients’ needs, which is why we have brought Peter on board.”

Ferrigno said: “I am delighted to be joining Reed Smith. It is a very well-known firm, even outside of the legal sector. It has an enviable global platform and a resolute industry focus that is clearly a successful strategy for providing the best support to its clients.”

Reed Smith’s Global Corporate Group covers all aspects of corporate and commercial law and spans the firm’s 30 offices. The EME corporate practice has undergone significant growth over the past few years. So far in 2020, the firm has opened a new European office with five competition, regulatory and trade partners consisting of Christian Filippitsch from Norton Rose Fulbright, Isabelle Rahman from Sheppard Mullin, Geert Goeteyn from Shearman & Sterling, Yves Melin from Steptoe & Johnson and Wim Vandenberghe from Deloitte Legal. They were also joined by one counsel and two associates. In addition, the group welcomed corporate partners Sam Webster and Ross Mackenzie in London, Adela Mues in Dubai and Caroline Ledoux in Paris.
