The awards recognise leading cross-border lawyers at international law firms for their significant achievements, with selection based on market and peer nominations. The judges of these Legal Era awards include former and current Indian Supreme Court judges and a number of general counsel at leading businesses operating in India.
Bhattacharyya is chair of Reed Smith’s India Business Team and focuses on international commercial arbitration and litigation. He is based in the firm’s London office and is also a member of Reed Smith’s global Executive Committee.
Kerur is a partner in Reed Smith’s Energy and Natural Resources practice and the managing partner of the firm’s Middle East offices. He advises both government and private sector clients on public and privately procured infrastructure and development projects, primarily in the Middle East and India.
Bhattacharyya was selected previously as a winner at these awards in 2022. He was also a recipient of the Legal Era International Lawyer of the Year Award for his India-related work in 2018.
This is a first-time win at these awards for Kerur. In June, he was named the leading lawyer in Construction Week’s Power 100 listing of the most influential people in the Middle East’s construction industry.
Reed Smith has had a long-standing focus on India. The firm’s strength in India-related Banking & Finance and Dispute Resolution, with lawyers based in the UK, was recognised in the Chambers Global 2023 guide. More details on the firm’s India experience and capabilities can be found on the India Business Team page.
The awards ceremony was held at the Legal Era India Conclave on 25 August in New Delhi.
