Bob is an experienced trial lawyer who previously served as the Chair of the Firm's Commercial Litigation Practice Group and Co-Chair of the Product Liability group when Reed Smith was recognized by the American Lawyer as Product Liability firm of the year. For more than three decades he has represented manufacturers in class action and individual product liability and consumer protection lawsuits throughout the United States. He regularly counsels manufacturers on recall issues and multi-disciplinary strategies for navigating through recalls and civil consumer protection and product liability lawsuits at the same time.
Bob has successfully handled claims and litigated cases in more than 25 states, including approximately 150 cases involving tort liability arising out of fires and explosions. He has extensive experience with relevant industry standards, guidelines and procedures including the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), National Highway Safety Administration (NHTSA), Battery Council International (BCI) and the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE). Bob has tried product liability lawsuits and won defense verdicts and judgments in courts in Alabama, California, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Washington, West Virginia and Wisconsin.
