CHICAGO – Global law firm Reed Smith advised the management team of Schellman, a global leader in cybersecurity compliance and attestation services, in connection with a strategic investment from Private Equity at Goldman Sachs Alternatives, a division of Goldman Sachs Asset Management. The transaction closed on April 21, 2026.

Schellman conducts independent assessments across cloud security, data privacy, federal compliance, and AI governance, areas where regulatory requirements continue to expand across jurisdictions. The firm is also the first accredited certification body under the international standard for AI management systems. The investment positions Schellman to grow its assessor workforce, serve clients in additional geographic markets, and deepen its federal and AI-related certification practices.

The cross-office Reed Smith deal team featured attorneys in Chicago, New York, Philadelphia, Houston, and Atlanta. The team was led by Siddesh Bale, vice chair of the firm's Business and Finance Department, and included Daniel Connelly, Ian Sherwin, Ronald Scharnberg, Varsha Ghodasra, and Faith Moss.
