McKesson will invest $1.4 billion for a 49% stake in Option Care Health, with CD&R holding the remaining 51%. The agreement also establishes a framework for McKesson's future acquisition of CD&R's interest. The transaction is expected to close in the first half of 2027, after which Option Care Health will continue to operate as a separate company under its own management.
The investment fits McKesson's long-term plan to make innovative therapies easier to get and more affordable wherever patients receive care. McKesson sees a long-term growth opportunity in continued innovation in specialty, rare, and orphan therapies and in the rising need for alternate infusion services and is focusing its investments on helping patients receive care in lower-cost community settings, at or closer to home.
As a strategic investor, McKesson will use its expertise in specialty pharmaceuticals to support Option Care Health's plan to make complex therapies available to more patients and deliver care in lower-cost settings.
