Cailin Harrington

Since joining Reed Smith, Cailin has distinguished herself as a versatile litigator with significant experience across all phases of pre-trial litigation, including conducting and responding to written discovery, collaborating with testifying experts, and drafting expert and dispositive motions. Cailin has also served as a key member of a trial team during a complex three-week toxic tort trial, providing critical on-site support and drafting a motion for a mistrial following opening statements—a motion the court ultimately granted. She has also played a central role in defending a company against fraud and abuse claims brought by the Department of Justice, contributing to a favorable resolution that resulted in a non-prosecution agreement.

Prior to joining Reed Smith, Cailin held a prestigious clerkship with the New Jersey Supreme Court, serving as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Justice Michael Noriega. In this role, she submitted bench memoranda to prepare the court for oral argument, composed certification memoranda recommending whether to grant petitions submitted to the court, and assisted with the opinion writing process.

Prior to serving as a judicial law clerk, Cailin worked as a judicial intern to the Honorable Judge Katharine S. Hayden at the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey, where she assisted with drafting opinions and observed trial proceedings. Cailin’s practical legal experience was further enriched by her tenure as a student attorney at the Seton Hall University School of Law Center for Social Justice, Family Law Clinic, where she appeared in court, counseled, and advocated on behalf of indigent clients.
