Served as lead attorney in In the Matter of KBR, Inc., the SEC’s first enforcement action under Rule 21F-17 of the Dodd-Frank Whistleblower Rules. The resulting order set a national precedent, influencing corporate whistleblower policies, internal investigation protocols, and confidentiality agreements across the country.
Acted as co-lead investigative attorney in In the Matter of Nikola Corp., a high-profile ESG/SPAC fraud investigation involving an alleged zero-emissions transportation company. The matter resulted in findings of violations of antifraud and disclosure control provisions of the federal securities laws and the imposition of a $125 million penalty.
Co-led the investigation in SEC v. Trevor R. Milton, which charged Nikola Motor Corporation’s founder and former CEO with making numerous fraudulent statements to raise over $1 billion from public and private investors through a SPAC transaction.
Led settled administrative proceedings against a public company, its founder, and former CEO for fraud related to undisclosed executive perquisites, improper stock pledges, and violations of books and records, internal accounting controls, and proxy rules.
Served as lead attorney in settled administrative proceedings against Tandy Leather Factory, Inc. and its former CEO, addressing failures in accounting, reporting, disclosure controls and procedures, and internal controls over financial reporting.
Served as lead attorney in a $7.4 million aviation investment scheme in the Western District of Texas, coordinating with criminal authorities on a parallel case.
Led the investigation in the Western District of Texas into a $6.3 million offering fraud involving a Texas state senator and others, and assisted the FBI and DOJ in the successful criminal prosecution.
