Stan focuses his law practice on insurance coverage and commercial litigation. He concentrates particularly on disputes involving insurance coverage for environmental, antitrust, intellectual property, director and officer, product recall, and professional and employment liability claims. His experience includes involvement in cases at all levels of the state and federal courts, including bench and jury trials.
Stan has represented clients in groundbreaking cases. He served as senior counsel in the first-known Illinois decision upholding a duty to defend a trademark infringement action. He also served as co-counsel in the nation's first state appellate court decision recognizing umbrella liability coverage for a Robinson-Patman Act price discrimination claim.
A former law clerk to an Illinois Supreme Court Justice, Stan has published widely in leading law reviews, journals, and professional periodicals. His articles have been quoted or cited with approval by numerous courts, including the Supreme Court of Illinois, the Supreme Court of Kansas, the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, the Illinois Appellate Court, and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
Stan is also a regular contributor to the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin, where he has written more than sixty published columns on insurance law and chancery court topics. His articles have been carried in other periodicals as well, including the Insurance Coverage Law Bulletin and The Corporate Lawyer, a publication of the Illinois State Bar Association.
