James is experienced at handling complex and high-value international and domestic commercial litigation and arbitration matters, from the pre-action stage through to final merits hearings. He has extensive experience of alternative dispute resolution and mediation, and has achieved a number of favourable settlements for his clients. James also has a busy advisory practice, assisting clients in understanding the risks in their commercial relationships and business.

His core areas of practice are commercial litigation, international arbitration, banking and financial services litigation, professional negligence disputes, construction and engineering disputes, insurance disputes, and media and technology disputes.
His experience in both litigation and arbitration spans a wide range of industries, including banking and financial services, construction and engineering, aerospace and defence, telecommunications, commodities, real estate, media and technology, food services and insurance.
James has extensive experience litigating across the divisions of the English High Court, particularly the Commercial Court, Queen’s Bench Division and Chancery Division. He also has significant experience acting in UNCITRAL, LCIA and Swiss Arbitration Centre arbitrations.
In addition to England and Wales, James’ experience spans clients and matters across a wide range of jurisdictions, including India, Singapore, Hong Kong, Kazakhstan, France, Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Spain, the Channel Islands, and the Cayman Islands.
