Advising trustees, sponsoring employers, investors and lenders, Will’s expertise covers the full range of issues that arise in relation to UK based pension schemes.
That includes advice on the pensions tax regime, age discrimination, funding and investments, scheme mergers, liability management, employer debt, buy ins/buy outs, automatic enrolment, public sector pensions and governance.
Will has been consistently listed in Chambers UK Client's Guide to the UK Legal Profession and the Legal 500 for over a decade. He is described by clients in those publications as having “outstanding pensions knowledge” with an ability to “explain technical issues to non-pensions people." Clients go to him for his "high-quality support" and "clear and concise advice" as well as the fact that he is "personable and proactive" with "an ability to gain the trust of trustees and employers alike".
Will sits on the UK’s Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association’s Standards Committee so is instrumental in forming wider policy to drive adequate saving for retirement in the UK. As a director of Reed Smith’s independent trustee companies, he also understands pension schemes from the client’s perspective.
