Unlike many states, the New Jersey Division of Taxation did not have a publicly available audit manual to guide taxpayers and practitioners - until now. After a years-long process, the Division has finally released its long-awaited Manual of Audit Procedures. (For a copy of the Audit Manual, please see below.)
On April 26 at 2:00 p.m. EDT, Reed Smith's State Tax Group will present a webinar on observations and opportunities related to the Division's new Audit Manual. Joining Reed Smith's lawyers will be Michael Ermilio, the Division's former Deputy Director, who will provide additional insight from his time in government.
Topics will include:
- Pre-audit preparation
- Sales and use tax sampling procedures
- Intercompany transactions and applying § 482 principles to corporation business tax
- Adjustments to line 28 taxable income
- Refund procedures
- Computing interest and penalties
