NEW YORK (June 5, 2017) – Global law firm Reed Smith LLP today announced the launch of a new Global Financial Risk Management practice, headed by Don Andrews, who has joined Reed Smith as a partner in the firm’s New York office and will serve as the Global Practice Leader for Risk and Compliance.  Andrews was most recently a partner with the New York office of Venable, where he was co-head of the Risk and Compliance Group.  Andrews is the fifth partner to join the firm’s New York office so far this year.  Also today the firm added a banking and finance team from Morrison & Foerster: partners William (Bill) Veatch and Catherine Young Hagerty join the firm’s San Francisco office.

Their addition follows on those of Liz Evans, who joined last week from Dentons; Elan Keller, who joined in April from Arnold & Porter Kaye Scholer; Parik Dasgupta, who joined the firm in March from King Wood Mallesons; and Gregg Roberts, who joined in January from Morrison & Foerster.  With more than 180 attorneys, New York is Reed Smith’s largest office in the United States.

“Don has an incredible amount of experience with risk assessment in all types of financial institutions, and his addition strengthens our current compliance capabilities.  With almost three decades of federal and private-sector experience in litigation, compliance, and risk management, Don offers a unique perspective to financial services clients,” said Ed Estrada, chair of Reed Smith's Financial Industry Group.  “Don is also an outstanding complement to our global regulatory offering, especially in connection with the partners who recently joined us in Europe from King Wood Mallesons.  The worldwide regulatory environment is constantly evolving and changing, so Don’s in-depth understanding and familiarity with various regulatory regimes will be a great benefit to our clients.”
