Milan joins Reed Smith in London after spending over seven years in the Group Legal Transactions team at the Swiss headquarters of Novartis, where he managed some of the pharma giant’s most notable strategic transactions. Prior to joining Novartis, he specialised in cross-border M&A, private equity, venture capital and corporate law at Shearman & Sterling in London, and at Stephenson Harwood in London and Hong Kong. Whilst in private practice, he also spent time on secondment at a venture capital firm in West London.
Delphine Currie, co-chair of Reed Smith’s Global Corporate Group, commented:
“Milan has acted for a broad spectrum of clients across a number of industries while in private practice, but he has naturally developed a particular expertise and sectoral focus in life sciences during his time at Novartis, and these capabilities will greatly complement our existing corporate and life sciences offering.
We’re delighted that Milan is returning to private practice and we’re looking forward to welcoming him into Reed Smith. He is well known in the life sciences and pharmaceutical industries and I have no doubt he will be a great addition to the team and our clients.”
Milan’s arrival will expand and strengthen Reed Smith’s corporate practice, particularly in the life sciences sector. Whilst qualified to practice in England and Wales, Milan has significant experience advising and leading on deals across a number of jurisdictions, including New York and Delaware.
Andrew Jenkinson, office managing partner of the firm’s London office, added:
“It has been a strategic priority for Reed Smith to continue building our life sciences practice, and the arrival of Milan further highlights our commitment to this sector. He brings a broad range of expertise to the table further strengthening our corporate offering.”
Milan said: “I am thrilled to be joining a firm with such deep industry expertise across a truly global platform. My time at Novartis has given me a real appreciation of how law firms can most effectively support their clients and alleviate the pressures that in-house teams face. I look forward to leveraging both the Reed Smith platform and my experience to help the firm continue to deliver excellent client service and grow its life sciences and corporate practice further.”
Reed Smith’s Global Corporate Group covers all aspects of corporate and commercial law and spans the firm’s 30 offices. The EME corporate practice has undergone significant growth over the past few years, with the group welcoming corporate partners Sam Webster and Shervin Shameli in London, Adela Mues in Dubai, Caroline Ledoux in Paris, and Dimitris Assimakis in Athens.
