LONDON – Global law firm Reed Smith held its annual charity quiz evening on 8 November in support of Theirworld, the global children’s education charity, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.

Last night’s event raised over £20,000 and was the biggest ever Theirworld quiz evening. Broadcaster, writer, economist and former Shadow Chancellor Ed Balls was quizmaster for the evening, and award-winning stand-up comedian and writer Sarah Keyworth entertained the attendees. The quiz was held at the Banking Hall, Cornhill, in the City of London.

Reed Smith and Theirworld enjoy a partnership that goes back to soon after the founding of the charity. Reed Smith also supports Theirworld with pro bono legal advice.

Sarah Brown, chair of Theirworld and executive chair of the Global Business Coalition for Education, said: “We are very grateful for the many years of support that Reed Smith has provided to Theirworld. This year is a milestone for Theirworld and after 20 years of work, we remain totally committed to ending the global education crisis and unleashing the potential of the next generation. Theirworld has supported over 100,000 children during the last 10 years with education, and our campaigns have reached millions more. This can vastly improve their personal development, career prospects and economic circumstances.”

Tamara Box, managing partner for Europe and the Middle East at Reed Smith and member of Theirworld’s advisory board, commented: “Last night was a great way to celebrate Theirworld’s 20th anniversary, and it was made even more special by being back in-person after the last two years of holding this quiz virtually. My thanks go to everyone who took part and donated, to our excellent quizmaster, Ed Balls, and to the hilarious Sarah Keyworth, for ensuring that the evening was such a success.”

Corporate partner David Boutcher, a long-time supporter of Theirworld, added: “Last night’s quiz was a fantastic event and has raised valuable funds to support Theirworld in their vital work to improve children’s access to education. We really appreciate the active participation and generosity of so many of our clients, in supporting our partnership with Theirworld.”
