These days, organizations are outsourcing more and more functions into the "cloud," which is essentially using hardware and/or software hosted by a third-party vendor remotely over a network (the Internet).  There are various different types of cloud computing — a common example being SaaS (Software as a Service) where a software application is accessed over the network.
