Meeting the needs of children

Assisting with legal adoption and legal guardianships
In Pittsburgh, our lawyers have been assisting children and their parents to navigate the legal adoption process for 25 years, winning formal recognition for these efforts from the U.S. federal government.

We routinely obtain special needs legal guardianship for children with disabilities in Philadelphia when as they turn 18 and become adults.

Establishing medical–legal partnerships in hospitals
Our lawyers recently led the successful efforts to establish medical-legal partnerships at the two leading children’s hospitals in Philadelphia. At these hospitals today, the families of children presenting with medical problems are screened for legal issues that may be contributing to their medical difficulties. The legal issues that are identified are then addressed by our lawyers, as well as by lawyers from other law firms.

Working to reduce youth unemployment in Europe
We partner with our client Nestlé France on its Alliance for YOUth program. Alliance for YOUth was launched in 2014 by Nestlé, in collaboration with 200 other companies, in order to tackle youth unemployment in Europe. We collaborate with in-house counsels from Nestlé France and University Aix-Marseille in southern France to teach students about the law.

Defending children's rights
Over the past 10 years, we have partnered with Enfance & Partage, a French organization that defends children’s rights against all forms of child abuse. We provide legal and administrative support, and every month we send a group of volunteers to their office to provide support in fulfilling their mission.

Harmony Project
In 2017 we represented the Harmony Project, a Los Angeles-based 501(c)(3) organization that brings classical music training, instruments, and performance opportunities to underprivileged children as it expands nationwide to other cities.
