Dan is a trial lawyer and a business counselor in antitrust and trade regulation and in an array of corporate governance and commercial matters, class actions, arbitrations and lawsuits.  He was firmwide Managing Partner of Reed Smith LLP from 1992 until 2001.  During his tenure, Reed Smith grew dramatically and became a global partnership.

For more than 20 years, Dan has been listed among The Best Lawyers in America.  He was named a Pittsburgh "Lawyer of the Year" five times in separate specialties (2011-2015).  Currently, he appears in the categories of Antitrust Law, Bet-the-Company Litigation, Commercial Litigation, Corporate Law and Litigation–Antitrust.  Dan has been recognized by Chambers USA, The US Legal 500, and Pennsylvania Super Lawyers as one of America's leading antitrust lawyers (2003-2022).  In 2016, he received the Lifetime Achievement Award of The Legal Intelligencer.
