Kevin has devoted his practice to advocating for managed care organizations since 2003. He has more than 20 years of experience litigating cases in state and federal courts and in arbitrations across the country.
Kevin dedicates a significant portion of his practice to insurance recovery litigation and represents managed care organizations in insurance coverage disputes involving errors and omissions, directors and officers, fiduciary liability, and other insurers. Kevin uses his unique combination of skills and experience in both insurance coverage disputes and the managed care industry to obtain optimal results for his clients. Together with other members of the Reed Smith managed care insurance recovery team, Kevin has secured hundreds of millions of dollars in insurance recoveries for managed care clients. Kevin also advises and represents his managed care clients in the placement of their insurance policies.
He has defended his clients in a wide array of litigation and disputes involving health care providers, members, government contract awards, and state Medicaid programs. He also has significant experience representing managed care clients in litigation regarding the administration of prescription drug benefits and related contract disputes.
Kevin represents his managed care clients in all types of government investigations at both the state and federal levels. He has represented clients in investigations by state attorneys general, state departments of insurance, and the U.S. Department of Labor. Kevin has advocated for clients in government investigations concerning a plethora of issues, including investigations related to compliance with the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act (MHPAEA).
Mentoring and developing junior attorneys at Reed Smith is an important part of Kevin’s practice. In 2020, the Women’s Initiative Network of Reed Smith awarded Kevin its first annual Theresa L. Davis Mentorship Award. Kevin is also the recipient of the Reed Smith managed care practice’s Kurt C. Peterson Mentorship Award. He served as the hiring partner for the Chicago office for over 10 years and remains actively involved in recruiting the next generation of lawyers at Reed Smith.
