Aaron joined Reed Smith in 2010 in the Business & Finance Department, State & Local Tax Group. His practice concentrates on New York state and city tax matters and multistate tax controversy, with particular emphasis on the Northeast states. Aaron also provides advice on minimizing tax exposure and tax litigation risks regarding the implementation of corporate restructurings.
Aaron has extensive experience in state tax controversy matters involving corporate income, franchise, gross receipts, insurance premiums, residency audits and sales and use taxes. He has represented clients in state tax issues before administrative tax boards and courts throughout the country. In addition, he provides multistate tax advice on general business transactions, state tax audits, mergers and acquisitions, abandoned and unclaimed property, tax compliance obligations and voluntary disclosure matters. Aaron has considerable experience handling state tax matters for the computer services industry, telecommunications industry, insurance companies, high-net worth individuals and nonprofit entities.
Aaron is a frequent speaker on state tax issues and has spoken at conferences sponsored by the Council on State Taxation (COST), the Tax Executives Institute (TEI), the Institute for Professionals in Taxation (IPT), ATLAS Information Group, the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) and the Pennsylvania and New Jersey CPA societies, among others.
