NEW YORK - Global law firm Reed Smith represented Recognition Music Group in its sale of Hipgnosis Songs Group.
The Hipgnosis Songs Group catalog includes copyrights originally held by Big Deal Music. Recognition Music Group is the newly rebranded name for the investment-rights company holding the songs and recordings formerly owned by Hipgnosis Songs Fund and Hipgnosis Songs Assets.
The transaction was led by a New York private equity team, led by partners Anatoliy Rozental, Lowell Bourgeois and Simon Kliegman, and associates Brent McDonough and Jessica Tsibidis-Goldberg; and an Entertainment & Media team led by Entertainment & Media Industry Group co-chair Stephen Sessa, partner Josh Love, and associates Amy Dunitz and Cole Rushworth.
