PRINCETON - Julia A. López, a partner in the Reed Smith’s Life Sciences Health Industry Group, has been highlighted in the NJBiz Law Power 50 for 2020, an honor given to a select group of lawyers for their skills and acumen in the courtroom, the boardroom, legislative chambers or at the bargaining table. It is the second consecutive year receiving this honor for López, who is based in the firm’s Princeton, N.J. office.

López handles product liability and commercial litigation for drug and medical device manufacturers. Her experience includes working on single plaintiff matters, coordinated cases, and multidistrict litigation in both federal and state courts. Representative products in her mass tort litigation experience include contraceptives, hormone replacement therapy products and vaginal mesh. She has counseled clients in all aspects of litigation from early case assessments and initial filings through resolution including trials.

In addition to her mass tort litigation work, López is also the firm’s nationwide partner chair for the Hispanic/Latinx business inclusion group known as UNIDOS. She has been an active member of the Hispanic Bar Association of New Jersey since 2003 and an active board member since 2008, serving in various leadership positions, including a term as president last year. She currently serves as the Hispanic National Bar Association’s regional president for Region III (NJ) and as a deputy national finance director, where she is helping to implement national initiatives for Latinx attorneys and students, the community, and its strategic partners.

According to NJBiz, honorees for the awards are professionals who “help set the agenda for New Jersey,” get results for their clients, and are noted for the high quality of their work. They are selected also on the basis of the status of their clients and causes they have fought for.
