In the ever-changing real estate market, Paul works with clients to develop strategic solutions to complex challenges across the commercial real estate lifecycle. He concentrates on real estate development, acquisitions and dispositions, leasing and portfolio leasing projects, landlord-tenant issues, commercial financing, land use and zoning, tax assessment appeals, financing workouts, and the procurement of economic incentives for development projects.

Paul previously served as Chair of Reed Smith’s Global Real Estate Group.

Experience

Representative matters

Managing real estate portfolio projects for a global retailer across the United States, including new store development and excess property carve-outs and actively advising on matters related to acquisition and development of big-box retail stores nationwide, as well as the disposition of land for outparcel development.
Advised a major public university on a $250 million, 1,500-bed student housing development structured as a long-term public-private partnership, providing end-to-end support from developer procurement through negotiation and execution of a 99-year ground lease and related agreements, while addressing complex operational, infrastructure, and planning considerations.
Managing real estate assets on behalf of a U.S.-based private equity firm.
