Tim represents corporations, non-profits, and universities in disputes with their insurance companies, focusing on liability insurance coverage litigation, arbitration, and mediation. In 2015, Tim was named by Chambers & Partners to its inaugural listing of the best Pennsylvania insurance lawyers, a distinction he has held each year since.

Represented home builder in Legion Insurance Company insolvency proceedings. The Pennsylvania Supreme Court affirmed and adopted the Commonwealth Court’s opinion that policyholders who can demonstrate third party beneficiary rights in reinsurance contracts can obtain direct access to reinsurance proceeds. The opinions are reported at Koken v. Legion Ins. Co., 831 A.2d 1196 (Pa. Cmwlth. 2003), aff’d, 878 A.2d 51 (Pa. 2005)
Represents national policyholder rights organization in appellate proceedings as amicus curiae – a friend of the court. Reported decisions include pro-policyholder decisions on many important coverage issues, including Humana, Inc. v. Forsyth, 119 S. Ct. 710 (1999) (unanimous decision allowing use of the federal RICO statute against insurance companies)
Successfully arbitrated on behalf of the captive insurance company of a large, publicly traded U.S. homebuilder against several international reinsurers that provided coverage on reinsurance forms with New York choice of law and London arbitration policy provisions.
