Pittsburgh-based international arbitration associate Liz Taylor is helping to run the tenth annual Middle East Pre-moot in Manama, Bahrain on March 10-14. Since 2018, Liz has donated time to the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Commercial Law Development Program (CLDP), conducting training seminars on international arbitration and international commercial law for students in the Middle East, North Africa, and the Balkan region.

The CLDP collaborates with around 25 universities and helps prepare students for the Willem C. Vis International Arbitration Moot competition, an annual spring moot in Hong Kong and Vienna that provides experiential education to law students interested in practicing in international arbitration and commercial dispute resolution. 

The event will welcome attorneys, arbitrators, and scholars from around the world as attendees, and 20 registered teams from Egypt, Tunisia, Iraq, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Saudi Arabia, Myanmar, the UAE, Bahrain, Jordan, and Lebanon will compete. Liz’s role will include assisting in a three-day training program for the students ahead of the competition; acting as arbitrator for the competitions round and as a judge for the team memoranda; and helping present team and individual awards at the gala.
