This trend towards globalisation has faced serious challenges in recent years. The rise of nationalism around the globe, the increasing risk of trade wars, and the growing focus on 'my country first' will not leave the international IP system unaffected, just as the race for telecommunications supremacy between nations may equally raise challenges to the global status quo.
